I set up this Google Group on Friday 5th June. It should supplement our emails, not replace them.
It could be a useful discussion forum, on many topics of shared interest. It is a Private Group, but please treat it as if it were Public.
My early intention WAS that it would be public, as a discussion forum, but now we will keep it private. We can still exchange private* emails.
Only group members can see it, and post on it. It seems to work OK. Our first members, after me, were Dick Bailey, my robot boat friend on the Snoopy page, my wife June, and Andy in Argentina above. I will continue to do my best to keep the Group to "Trusted" friends. You can follow links to their web sites, LINKEDIN, etc. The next Topics we started discussion on were COOKING, MAKING VIDEOS AND FILMS, then NEW CARS ( e.g. Electric vehicles ). For the rapidly increasing list of Topics, scroll further down.
Below are some links to pictures, so you can see
if it is worth the effort of asking to become a member.
I may add more pictures, and a list of Topics already there, soon.
Of course, we may allow trusted friends, including trusted journalists, access,
to make first contact with some of you. e.g. Dick's son. See the MAKING VIDEOS AND FILM MAKING Topic.
My rushed video on the right, filmed and edited on the first day of Royal Ascot, is not in the same league,
but it may serve a purpose. It shows June and I watching a race on TV, after my Uncle Bernie had,
allegedly, given me a betting tip. Enjoy the video :-)
My advice is to treat my Google Group as public, even if it is private. You can still use private* emails.

Some of my friends, here and overseas, know that ALL emails and 'phone calls can be listened to
- but no point in being paranoid. Just take care what you say :-)
To see what appears, if you have joined the group, click on the image on the left, to enlarge it. This is a snapshot, so may have changed.

You will see a list of topics, on all sorts of subject. I'll put a list at the end here, of Topics already started, or expected soon.
Any member can create a new Topic, on any subject they wish. Any member can post comments, which will result in emails being sent to other members. The good thing is that they can choose three alternatives: (a) don't send me any emails - they can browse the Group when they wish. e.g. every few days. (b) provide a daily summary in one email each day. (c) send an email when anyone posts a comment. They can look at the email title to decide whether to read it, save it, or bin it ! :-)
Clicking on the image on the top-right shows what will appear on your screen. You can scroll through the postings on that Topic ( email thread ).
The thread might be used to discuss a subject, or provide knowledge to those who are interested in that subject.
I've chosen the Topic of "DRONES" started by Dick, and you will see my "Reply" which includes that lovely video
from my
Drone
page. I'll put it here, so you can play it, and get a flavour of how "Health & Safety Concious" we are :-)
The important thing about this Google Group is that it can be ANY subject you wish. That's the power of the Net: the overlapping networks of friends. Regardless if it is face-to-face, or over the 'phone or the Net, I obviously don't discuss the same thing with all my friends, and every topic will include someone who knows more than me on that subject. I hope this Group will put the right people in touch. It should help me :-)

Most important of all - ANY subject that a member wishes to start discussion on ! e.g. Why do my new videos now appear on Robins second Youtube channel ? :-)

Please use common sense in how you treat any subject or Topic. It may be a private group, but our friend's children or grand children may look at it. Remember that nothing on the Internet is secure, despite what some "security experts" or "software vendors" will tell you. But don't be paranoid, and speak freely. Treat it as Public, even if it is not :-)
